The Legislative Council held its annual budget public hearing on the proposed 2015-16 education budget Wednesday night, and got an earful from parents, teachers and students on the deep cut Mayor Scott Jackson made in the Board of Education’s proposal.
The may cut about $1.8 million from the request, which would mean more than 15 layoffs, according to board chairman John Keegan. But Keegan said he’s hopeful the council will restore all or some of that funding.
