He was born in Quincy, MA on Sept. 3, 1922, the son of the late James and Theresa A. (McCarthy) Hawco.
George is survived by his loving children, Teresa Blais of Mandeville, LA; George B. Hawco and his wife Roberta of Fairfax, VA; Steven J. Hawco and his wife Carol of Alpharetta, GA; and Ellen M. Marinelli and her husband Gary of Columbia, CT. His eight grandchildren; Christina, Sean, Christopher, Kevin, Nicholas, Ryan, Audrey and Lauren; brought him many joys which were accentuated by the births of his two great-grandchildren, Christian and Cullen.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Joan (Cullinane) Hawco; his youngest daughter, Jeanne M. Hawco and his brothers James and Frank Hawco.
Following his high school graduation, George served in the US Navy during WWII. George was an operating engineer working mostly for the JM Rosa Construction Company. During his 30-plus year career, his projects spread throughout the state of Connecticut from New Haven to Stonington to South Windsor.
George was an honorary lifetime member of Council 3605 of the Knights of Columbus.
The family wishes to thank from the bottom of their hearts the staff at Ramage 3 at Masonicare in Wallingford, CT for the loving care George received during his residence.
A celebration of life service and burial will be at a future date at the convenience of the family at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
