FAQ on Friday’s Third Annual Food Truck Festival

We’re counting down to the Fall Food Truck Festival this Friday, October 17, in Hamden Town Center Park. We’ve gotten many good questions so we thought it might be helpful to share some of them.

When and where is this event? The Food Truck Festival is on Friday, October 17 from 4:30-9:00 pm and is located in Hamden Town Center Park on Dixwell Avenue, between Miller Library and Hamden Middle School.

Is there a rain date? Our alternate time is the next afternoon. It would be a much smaller event due to some vendor conflicts, so we would only postpone in the event of dangerous weather like thunderstorms or hail. We would go on Friday even in the event of light or moderate rain. Fortunately, the weather forecast is looking good, with clear skies in the evening and the temperature around 60.

Is there an admission or parking charge? Is this just for Hamden residents? Admission, parking and entertainment are all free, the only charges are for food and drink. Everyone is welcome to attend whether from Hamden or just visiting us for the event.

What’s the parking situation? Short answer: it’s good. Long answer: we will have parking on the South Lawn of Town Center Park, accessible through the Hamden Middle School, and at the Middle School itself. There will also be parking at Miller Library. The lower lot at Miller will be reserved for handicapped parking, and Hamden CERT will offer shuttle service from the handicapped lot to the main festival area. Additional parking is located at Hamden Government Center, on the second level of the new Memorial Town Hall garage, in the municipal lot on Dixwell Avenue between Whitney and Washington, and in the Hamden Center One Garage at Whitney and Dixwell, behind Mickey’s and Dunn’s. Most surrounding streets have street parking. Please observe all posted parking signs. Hamden Police will staffing the crosswalks to make foot traffic as safe as possible. And for those of you who live nearby, there is easy walking and bike access from the Farmington Canal! Just exit the trail next to Brueggers and follow the sidewalk!

Do the vendors accept credit/debit cards or is it cash only? Some vendors accept credit cards but many do not. We encourage you to bring cash. While there is no ATM in the park, there are many banks within one mile of the park, and Webster, Citizen and Quinnipiac Banks are directly across the street.

Can I bring my dog? It will be crowded, a little noisy and lots and lots of food. Please considerate of your four legged friends and your neighbors: leave your pets home for this. We encourage you to buy some great food to take home to them.
