1del1Eight weeks of hard work paid off Wednesday for 13 Hamden High School students who graduated from the National Certified Teen Community Emergency Response Team Program.
The after-school program taught the students the necessary skills to help their families, neighbors and community during any emergency. The students were part of the third class to graduate from the Teen CERT Program.

Energize Connecticut, in partnership with Connecticut Light & Power and the United Illuminating Company, announced the winners of its 10th annual eesmarts Student Contest during a special ceremony held at the State Capitol on Thursday, June 5.

The contest gives Connecticut students in grades K-12 the opportunity to showcase their “energy smarts” about energy-saving, renewable energy, and sustainability through various media forms. This year’s contest received more than 900 submissions, and the 39 finalists represented 15 cities and towns across the state. … Continue Reading

1glen13Students, parents and educators at Shepherd Glen School were the latest to celebrate the heritage of its families with Diversity Day.

On Saturday the school held its first Family Heritage Day Fair at the school, where students learned about the different countries represented at the school. On May 17, Bear Path School 
held a similar event.

shaTwo Hamden residents who are world language students at Sacred Heart Academy have attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2014 National Spanish Examinations. Sacred Heart students earned a total of three gold, five silver, and fourteen bronze medals along with twenty honorable mentions.

Students from Sacred Heart have a long history of high achievement on these exams and were taught by Spanish teachers, Mr. Oscar Rollan and Dr. Carmen Martinez Rivera. … Continue Reading
