Hamden High School students spent Wednesday afternoon in the school’s football field and the Lou Asterino Ice Rink after a bomb threat was called in to the school.

Starring in the upcoming November musical Singin’ in the Rain are Sacred Heart Academy students Andrea Sanchez ’15, Lauren Celentano ’16,, Rose Iannacone ’16 and Kayla Hansen ’15.

A talented cast of more than 125 students, including male actors from ten different schools, will be Singin’ in the Rain this November at the newly renovated Shubert Theatre.

hamen high school momSchool officials said Wednesday that it was a mistake not to send parents a message after a report of a gun at Hamden High School sent the school into lockdown for a short time Tuesday morning.
The call came in to the school shortly after 7:30 a.m. reporting that there was a gun in the school. The school was immediately put into lockdown mode, requiring students to stay in their rooms and prohibiting movement throughout the school.

Hamden Hall Country Day School fifth-grade teacher Monica Emanuelson walked among her seated students as she read aloud Chapter 1 of The Fourteenth Goldfish, a whimsical coming-of-age book that centers on a middle school student and her 70-year-old grandfather.

Over the next six weeks, Emanuelson will read a chapter a day to her students. Three hundred miles away in Brooklandville, Maryland, fifth graders in a classroom in St. Paul’s School will listen to their teacher reading them the same book. … Continue Reading

1del1Sacred Heart Academy principal Sr. Maureen Flynn, ASCJ, ’81 competed with more than 20 million NikeFuel users in the 10-week Summer of NikeFuel Challenge and finished in the top 20.

Sr. Maureen walked and ran more than four million steps from June to September.

The Nike Challenge was a great experience for me,” Sr. Maureen said.

Athletes walked or ran as much as possible to gain points, she said. These points were tracked and recorded, and the Top 20 athletes with the most points won the challenge and were invited to Los Angeles. … Continue Reading
