hamdenhighHave your car washed and support the Hamden High School After-Prom.

The Hamden High School Parent-Teacher-Student Association will be holding two car wash fundraisers. The first is Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McDonalds in the Hamden Mart. The rain date is Saturday, May 3.

The second carwash will take place Saturday, May 10 at across from McDonalds at Pep  Boys in front of Stop and Shop Plaza.

1del1Hamden student Elizabeth Lopreiato, was honored as a finalist for her project, “Investigating the phytoremediation of lead: the type of plant species versus the rate of lead extraction in hydroponic media”, at the 66th annual Science and Engineering Fair at Quinnipiac University that was held on Saturday, March 15. 

Lopreiato’s project was honored in the “Future Sustainability” category for High School students.

1del1Students at Helen Street and Ridge Hill schools got a treat Thursday when they joined Mayor Scott Jackson, Gov. Dannel Malloy and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Rob Klee at Lake Wintergreen to stock the water with trout.

Each year the state stocks waterways with the fish ahead of the start of fishing season and uses it as an opportunity to teach students about the importance of the state’s natural resources.. This year’s opening day is Saturday, April 19. … Continue Reading

1del1Fatima Dames, a tribal councilwoman on the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council and a civil rights activist, and John Rose Jr., an attorney who was the state’s first African American partner of a law firm, will receive the Thurgood Marshall Award from the Quinnipiac University School of Law’s Black Law Students Association on Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m. in the Grand Courtroom in the School of Law Center on the university’s Mount Carmel Campus.
