On a beautiful fall October morning, Sacred Heart Academy celebrated the completion of the renovation of the John G. Martin Foundation Biological Sciences Laboratory. shaSacred Heart Academy Principal Sr. Maureen Flynn, ASCJ has announced the Honor Roll for the fourth marking period of the 2014 – 2015 academic school year.

Academic honors are awarded at the end of each quarter to students attaining an average of 3.5 or better. Those students who achieve a grade point average of 3.8 or greater are awarded High Honors.

1cel1Sacred Heart Academy faculty member Kathryn Gniadek has had an article published in the December 2014 issue of Liguorian magazine.

“Our Celestial Company” was selected as part of an emphasis on angels as God’s messengers in Christian History in the issue.

Mrs. Gniadek joined the mathematics department at Sacred Heart in 2002 and was named chair of the department in 2005. She earned a BS from Fairfield University and a MS from UConn. She serves as the Academy’s UCONN Early College Experience (ECE) site representative and as moderator of the Mu Alpha Theta, the National Math Honor Society. … Continue Reading

Nicholas Burns, a career diplomat who played a key role in how the Bush Administration dealt with the fall of the Berlin Wall, spoke Monday at “Remembering the Fall of the Berlin Wall: 25 Years Later,” a forum at Southern Connecticut State University to commemorate the 25th anniversary of that historic milestone.

Burns was involved in the discussions on Berlin and Germany before and during the time that the wall came down. In 1990, he was appointed by President George H.W. Bush to the National Security Council, a post he would hold until 1995, effectively bridging the administrations of Bush and President Bill Clinton. … Continue Reading
