Over a 40-plus-year career, Peter was behind major expansions and renovations at Danbury, Sharon and Bridgeport Hospitals, as well as the Community Health Care Plan (now Long Wharf Medical Center) building in New Haven. He also did smaller projects at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven, Griffin Hospital in Derby and the veterans hospital in West Haven. 1del1Elizabeth Zane Keeny Hill of Hamden, a former high school teacher and a longtime peace activist, died on Jan. 19, 2015, Martin Luther King Day, at the age of 94.
A coal miner’s daughter, she was believed to be one of the first girls from her area in Western Pennsylvania to go to college, at Bluffton University in Ohio. Her family got help from Quaker and Mennonite missionaries in the coal mining region, and she herself went on to serve as a missionary with Mennonites in Paraguay from 1945 to 1947.
On her return, a young ice cream advertising man having lunch at a café in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, saw her picture in the local newspaper and told his waitress: “I’m going to marry that girl.” Indeed, he wooed her and won her, and they married three months later on June 21, 1947.

1del`Mary DeLucia Salvietti, 82, of Hamden, died Jan. 16, 2014 at Connecticut Hospice after a long illness. She was the widow of John S. Salvietti.

Mary was born in New Haven on Oct. 13, 1932, the daughter of the late John and Margaret DeLucia, and resided in Hamden all of her life. She was a sales associate for the Bradlees Stores for 18 years and did volunteer work for the Hamden Republican Town Committee.

A wonderful cook and baker, she enjoyed providing for her loving family.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Ann Celone, a granddaughter, Nicole Mele (David), two great granddaughters, Gianna and Ava Mele, a sister, Minnie Hurley of West Haven and a brother, Michael DeLucia (Judy) of Hamden.
