She was born June 30, 1947 in Vega Baja, PR to the late Pedro Ortiz and Maria Gonzalez,  and worked as an administrator for Covidien.  She will be remembered as a loving wife of 48 years and as a woman of peace and faith who always conveyed a positive outlook on life. She will also be remembered by her church, St. Rosa Lima, for her hard work as a Bible study teacher, marriage counselor, and school teacher.

She was wise, focused, enjoyed helping others, and had a gift in comforting others. One saying of hers goes, “Live today, don’t look at yesterday, and don’t look at tomorrow; live in the moment.” … Continue Reading

Born Feb 19,1921 in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Carney Masterson. She was a graduate of St, Mary’s High School , the New York Stenotype Institute and the New York Court Reporting Institute.
She was employed in the New Haven City Court and the New Haven Superior Court, subsequently appointed Official Court Reporter of that court. In 1979 when the courts merged, she was appointed Official Court Reporter of the Milford Superior Court, Judicial District of Milford/ Derby.

Anna was the loving mother of Robert A (Bonnie) Bretko of Hamden, and Carl E. (Barbara) Bretko of Bradenton, Fl., and is also survived by her five cherished grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister Jewel Brutz.

Anna was born in New Haven on July 6, 1919, the daughter of the late Andrew and Josephine Noonan. Mrs. Bretko was very proud of her Irish heritage, and was known for her happy go lucky attitude. 1del1Raymond S. D’Addio, 90, of Hamden died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of 69 years to Helen Perrone D’Addio.

Ray was born in Hamden on Aug. 27, 1924, a son of the late Gaetano and Philomena Bonominio D’Addio, and was a lifelong town resident. He was a truck driver and later District Supervisor for Shell Oil Co., of Bridgeport for 35 years, retiring in 1985.

After his retirement, Ray served as the Public Works Director for the Town of Hamden for two separate terms in the late 1980s. … Continue Reading

1de;1Robert Bush McGraw, 87, of Hamden, passed away on Aug. 28, 2014. He was the husband for 63 years of the late Kate Robertson McGraw, who died in 2013.

Bob was born in New York City and raised there and at his family’s home in Newtown where his passion for the outdoors and geology bloomed. His father, Robert Bush McGraw, was a prominent New York City psychiatrist, and his mother, Catharine Ross McGraw, a former nurse, was active in a variety of charities.

He graduated from Loomis School in Windsor in 1945 and served in the U.S. Army in Germany for two years following the end of the war. He received a BA from Columbia College in 1950 and an MA in Geology from the University of Wyoming in 1954.  An avid lifelong learner of many scientific fields, Bob was an expert on tools, both historic and high tech. His work as a geologist led him and Kate to Laramie, Wyoming and Lark, Utah before returning to Connecticut to raise their three children. … Continue Reading

Mary was born in New Haven on Feb. 26, 1916, a daughter of the late Gennaro and Maria Aiello Iaccarino, and had resided in Hamden for most of her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Rignoli and her granddaughter, Jennifer Rignoli of Hamden, and her sister Theresa (Frank) Ciaffone of North Branford.
